Set within five acres of formal gardens and 27 acres of private parkland, Marlwynd Keep is a Grade II listed stately home in the North Lincolnshire countryside. Elegant, secluded and rich in character, it offers the rare pleasure of having a stately home setting entirely to yourselves.
Created for those who value space, privacy and the quiet art of occasion, the estate brings together sweeping lawns, beautifully appointed interiors, fine antiques, original paintings and countryside views that feel wonderfully removed from everyday life. This is not simply a place to stay. It is a setting for long-awaited family gatherings, milestone celebrations, special birthdays, elegant weekends and grand occasions that deserve more than an ordinary house.
At the heart of the estate is the main house, a beautifully furnished private residence sleeping 14 guests as standard across seven bedrooms. Stays in the main house start from £1,500 per night, with a minimum two-night stay.
For guests who wish to make the stay even more indulgent, the suite can be added for £250 per night. Sleeping two additional guests, this brings the main house capacity to 16. The suite is a showpiece in its own right, with rich fabrics, an emperor bed sourced from a Milanese castle, a roll-top bath and exquisite Clive Christian details. It is opulent, romantic and perfectly suited to those who want the finest room in the house.
For larger parties, five additional guest beds can be arranged at £20 per bed, per night. These form part of the maximum main house capacity, taking the house from 16 to 21 guests when all five are added.
For groups wishing to take the full estate, yurt and lodge can also be booked alongside the main house. The yurt sleeps up to four guests and is priced at £225 per night. The lodge sleeps two guests and is also priced at £225 per night.
When the main house, suite, additional guest beds, yurt and lodge are all booked together, Marlwynd Keep can sleep up to 27 guests in total.
Inside the main house, every room carries its own sense of occasion. Features such as marble fireplaces, roaring winter fires, high ceilings, large sash windows and fine antiques can be found throughout the house, giving it a strong sense of heritage and grandeur. The reception rooms are made for slow evenings, champagne before dinner and conversations that carry long into the night.
The grand dining room offers an impressive setting for shared meals, while the kitchen, complete with a traditional Aga and modern appliances, supports both relaxed self-catering and private dining. A private chef can also be arranged on request, allowing guests to enjoy a fully catered stately home experience without leaving the estate.
Each bedroom has been individually styled, combining period charm with modern comfort. Sky and Netflix are available, offering familiar modern conveniences while preserving the feeling of being somewhere historic, private and memorable.
At Christmas, the house is beautifully dressed for the season, with a magnificent 15 ft tree in the grand hall adding an extra sense of magic, warmth and occasion. It makes Marlwynd Keep especially suited to festive gatherings, winter celebrations and elegant Christmas stays.
Beyond the house, the estate opens out onto manicured lawns, formal gardens and peaceful parkland. Horses graze nearby, the views stretch across the countryside, and the grounds create a sense of privacy that is increasingly hard to find. Guests can enjoy long walks from the estate, relaxed outdoor dining, the barbecue area and the private tennis court. A private hot tub is also available at an additional cost for those who want to add another layer of indulgence to their stay.
The yurt offers a romantic hideaway within the estate, where fairy lights, soft comforts, countryside stillness and its own private hot tub create a world of their own.
The lodge provides a private retreat for two, tucked away in its own peaceful setting with a hot tub, elegant interiors, beautiful views and a fully enclosed paddock for dogs. It is ideal for couples seeking privacy, comfort and a little extra space for their four-legged companions.
Main house: sleeps 14 as standard, from £1,500 per night. Suite: sleeps 2, £250 per night Additional guest beds: 5 available, £20 per bed, per night Yurt: sleeps 4, £225 per night Lodge: sleeps 2, £225 per night Total estate capacity: up to 27 guests Minimum stay: 2 nights Dog-friendly stays: up to 2 dogs welcome by arrangement, with a £20 charge.
A Private Stately Home Story
Marlwynd Keep is for guests who want more than a weekend away. It is for those who want the doors opened, the fires lit, the table laid and the feeling, even just for a few days, that they have stepped into their own private stately home.

Amazing time had by all in a wonderful property and village. ☺Stunning property, amazing gardens which are really well kept, kitchen was brilliant with an excellent large double oven with gas hob, the kitchen area was great for our large rear to gather to play games and it also had a good sized tv in there to watch . The bedrooms were all a good size. Plenty of bathrooms/toilets for our group of 15. Hot tub was great which we used regularly. The village was lovely, with two brilliant pubs, a village shop and some good walks nearby. ☹Maybe a coffee table in the living room would have been a bonus but apart from that I couldn’t fault the property.Posted on Booking

The most amazing place for a chilled hen do! Everyone absolutely loved the place - lots of rooms to go chill in, but also plenty of space and seats for us all to be in one room. There was 15 of us in total and we had more than enough space for us all!Posted on Booking

Fabulous, we had the best weekend ! ☺ Fabulous size for our annual family weekend together. There were 16 adults and 3 children and there was ample room so that none of us were on top of each other. The house was spotlessly clean, with all the amenities you could ever need, and the hot tub was just a lovely addition. ☹ Nothing it was great! I’m just sorry it appears to be booked for the same weekend next year.Posted on Airbnb

We were a large family group with children and young grandchildren. Everyone had a great time and loved all the space in this characterful house. The kitchen is huge with a big table (which easily seated all 13 of us) and very well-equipped. There is a small conservatory just off the kitchen which has a smaller table ideal for children’s games and craft activities. The gardens are attractive with plenty of outdoor furniture but young children must be closely supervised as there is a low wall above a drop at the bottom of the front garden. There is a large village green nearby, also a children’s playground and a flat, easy, riverside footpath 5 mins walk away. All written instructions in the house were clear and Neil always responded quickly to any messages.Posted on Airbnb

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Vicarage with 4 generations to celebrate a 90th birthday. The kitchen /dining room was fantastic, very well equipped to cook/seat comfortably the whole family. The close proximity of the station was great for children travelling up from London. The local walks were beautiful and great for the runners and dog walkers in the family. We were blessed with beautiful weather to enjoy the celebrations in the garden and would definitely return for future family occasions.Neil was an excellent host, very responsive and helpful.Posted on Airbnb

A fantastic place for a large gathering of friends or family. Immaculately clean and lovely and warm on our arrival during cold stormy January. The kitchen-diner is the perfect place for everyone to gather, it’s really well equipped and very warm and welcoming. The house is huge and there are lots of places for sub-groups to gather to chat or watch TV. We pre-ordered a meal at the local pub where we were made very welcome. Loads to do in the area if you can drag yourself away from the house!Posted on Facebook

The Old Vicarage, Ovingham was a perfect setting for our extended family. We stayed for two nights but would have loved to stay longer. This amazing house enabled three generations to get together communally, whilst also having space and privacy. The kitchen, dining room was a wonderful central hub for all and different sitting rooms gave homely space for different groups. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, perfect for children and adults alike. We are hoping to arrange a return visit to make more memories with family and enjoy even more of the house, and local area. The Crisps, Marshalls and Heslops November 2023.Posted on Facebook

Best Family Holiday ☺ Just back from The Old Vicarage. We have had the best weekend. We were a family of 20. And 5 dogs. We had the best time from start to finish. House and grounds both beautiful. Very relaxing and comfortable especially with all the dogs. House was huge. It was at its full capacity with us and there was lots of space. Made great use of hot tub. We done a mix or cooking and ordering in. White Swan pub even done take away for us all on the Sunday. They were lovely. Neil could not have been any more helpful. I messaged on numerous occasions and he got back almost instantly and helped with everything I had to ask. Even kind enough to post something back to us that we left behind. Wouldn't hesitate to book again. Just brilliant. Thanks again Neil.Posted on Booking

Fantastic house and highly recommended for group team building! We were a group of 9 individuals using the property for a 3 night team development trip and could have stayed longer. The variety of reception rooms and outdoors space offered ample options for group work, and the perfectly positioned screen beside the dining table was ideal for the more ‘serious’ sessions. Well appointed, well thought out and well equipped, and the hosts were very helpful throughout. We have already booked to return next year.Posted on Facebook

I booked the old vicarage for my sisters Hen Party and it certainly didn’t disappoint. There was 18 of us in total and there was so much room for us all. Especially in the kitchen area where we practically spent most of our weekend. The grounds around the house were so lovely too! Neil was fantastic and I definitely recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone looking for an amazing stay. We are already looking at booking again in the future for a family getaway.Posted on Facebook

The Old Vicarage ☺ The house is amazing. Extremely well equipped. The photos don't do it justice. So much space inside and outside. Twenty of us ranging from 5 years to nearly 90. An exceptional property - would recommend to anyone! ☺ I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone. We were a large group and the house gave everyone plenty of space. The bedrooms are all spread out nicely and were all good sizes - some of them were huge with lovely views onto the grounds/gardens and view of the river through the trees. The gardens are really well maintained and even at this time of year were lovely and of course completed with the hot tub! The kitchen and dining area are particularly great and were ideal for our large group to be able to eat together. There was everything you could possible need and even 2 dishwashers to cope with our numbers. Everything has been very well thought out and Neil was a great host and answered any questions that I had. Check in was easy and a large parking area as well. Ovingham itself is a lovely village, complete with a pub and very easy access into Newcastle - about 25 minutes by car but there is also a bus stop outside the property. Would love to stay here again! ☹ Nothing at all to dislike
